The underlying idea was a good one but the storytelling was lazy and the characters were dull. May 29, Kate rated it liked uarris. Charlaine Harris lends a tale featuring her Sookie Stackhouse a character I’ve heard of, but not read before now. I would find it hard to pick harriss a favorite among the stories and authors. This is why I’ve learned to respect Dana Stabenow as an editor. I suggest seeking out both, and Suspects includes return appearance by Crowfoot and Sharryn, Gwyn from Cold Spell, and charlalne my favorite Nightside story by Simon Green.

This is a LONG way from that. The murder in this story was of view spoiler [one of the professors and the pool of suspects is quite small: The Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance. A nice read though. Item s unavailable for purchase.
This tale was stylised and glib. Faires can be scary. I love Harris’s novels, but I’m starting to have serious doubts regarding her ability to write short stories. Nightside 1 – 10 of 12 books. At first I felt like this collection was disappointing but okay; the stories were pretty fluffy, not really satisfying as mysteries and too often reliant on prior familiarity with the authors’ work, but moderately entertaining and quick to read.
This story takes place at the Norwitch Academy of Magic and Sorcerywhere a recent murder of one of the senior chaarlaine has just taken place and the headmistresses, Camalynmust try and figure out which of her four remaining peers has committed the assassination. Overall though, a good short story.

This would be good at the beach o I read this initially for the Sookie Stackhouse story by Charlaine Harris and that turned out to be one of the weaker entries.

A lady who gets vengence with a twist. This story happens after book 3 and introduces Claudine’s brother Claude and explains how they became owners of the strip club Hooligans. Still, the novelty carried me to the end and the idea will stay with me. This one has some great stuff, but it also has oowers few stinkers. Otherwise, hrris was a pretty standard Sookie story – Sookie gets asked by supernatural creature to read some human minds that are suspected of doing something terrible — Sookie reads minds and finds out the answer — supernatureal creatures promise to powefs a rather nasty form of revenge.

The stories by my two favorite authors were great, but the other stories were good as well chwrlaine very entertaining. This is a first-rate sword and sorcery with a good mystery plot. This is another detedtion of short stories from a variety of authors. In fact, I like this short story better than the first book in the series Dead Until Dark.

And, for Sookie stackhouse fans she has a short here also. Features Claude and Claudine. The Simon Green Nihgtside short cotninues my trend of liking Green’s short stories, but not overly enjoying his novels.
I made a note to pick this series up.
I also enjoyed Charlaine Harris’s short story “Fairy Dust”.
